General Conference Packet {for grown-ups}

I hope you’re all getting ready for General Conference next Sunday! I made a lovely packet that’s geared more toward adults than kids (because I LOVE the kids’ packets on that you can print! The cover looks like this:

You can read more about it and how it’s meant to be used in this post over on my other blog, Sunbeam Primary.

And you can print it below!

General Conference Packet {for Grown Ups}

Monson, Eyring, Uchtdorf, Packer…

It’s that time again! Help your kids know who’s talking during General Conference! I read somewhere, or someone told me once that the tune of “Books in the Book of Mormon” will almost always work for saying the names of the 12 apostles in order! Isn’t that amazing?! I just tested it for myself [I had to peek at the list!] and it works! Try it with me! š¯„˛ Monson, Eyring, Uchtdorf, Packer, Perry, Nelson, Oaks, Ballard, Scott, Hales, Holland, Bednar, Cook, Christofferson, Andersen š¯„˛ If you just use their last names, and don’t add any extra words at all, they fit perfectly. Cool, right!? I’ll be using this PDF that I found on lds.orgĀ  to match the pictures to the names of the apostles. (You can get it here, too.) But, these pictures are really tiny, so I’d recommend checking out big versions of the pictures from your library, or you can print them.

I will use the bigger pictures to show them to the whole primary, and we’ll learn their full names, and then how to sing them in the tune. (sort of like we did with Latter-Day Prophets) I’ll have a “super singer” come up and put the right picture in the right chair. At the end, we’ll sing it all together and the best singer will win the game to take home and use during Conference!

We will also be reviewing Latter-Day Prophets! I already promised my primary a prize if they listen really closely for any of these names during Conference and write them down in order when they hear them! If their lists match mine (or are really close) then they’ll get something really cool (like a set of Articles of Faith cards on a keyring to hook onto their scriptures!) We’ll see how many of them can process that, I’m thinking a few of my older kids will come up with something at least! I promised them when we learned it that they would hear those names quoted by our current prophets, and we talked about how basic doctrines and teachings don’t change no matter what era we live in!

I’ll have to be listening really close to all those sessions of Conference!
